Sowing the Seeds of Renewal

NEWS RELEASE: DEC 6, 2009

Youth And Sustainability 2009: Sowing the Seeds of Renewal

"RENEW" is this year's theme of a CHILDREN-LED COMMUNITY CONFERENCE focused on:
Sustainable Recreation,
Sustainable Energy,
Sustainable Nutrition,
Sustainable Education,
Sustainable Work.

This Free COMMUNITY event includes presentations from representatives
of local sustainable companies including THE ORGANIC GROWERS
ASSOCIATION, KATIMAVIK, sustainability songs Composed specifically for this
event, sustainability games and a performance from a student band. By
adding the element of fun to their local conference, the children hope
to achieve a sustainable and repeat worthy event, perhaps even growing
into other communities. Already other countries are following this
"Seed" Event and are interested in creating Sustainability Conferences
for the Children in their Countries

Mr. Sylvain Henry, co-organizer of the event believes that some of the
best people to initiate and promote sustainability anywhere is local
youth. According to Mr. Henry, "Youth knows what is needed, they are
action-oriented, they work together without prejudice and they love
fun". In his previous children-led event of March 15th at the
Canadian Montessori Academy in Ottawa, Mr. Henry had invited Arun
Gandhi, grandson of the Mahatma, to speak to children and the
ambassadors of three countries.
